Kunzer Hospital Lawn Turned Construction Site: Public Money Flattened to Serve Vested Interests?
Kunzer, July 27: In a shocking example of political arrogance and misuse of public funds, the lawn of PHC Kunzer—macadamised just last year—has now been dug up for a new building construction that locals say is “completely unplanned, unnecessary, and meant to benefit a select few.”
The hospital has ample vacant land around it, but authorities—backed by political muscle—chose to erect the new building right in the centre of the lawn, blocking the main view and entrance of the hospital. The move has triggered widespread anger and allegations of corruption.
“Last year, lakhs were spent to macadamise the hospital lawn. Today that same patch is being dug up. Is this development or daylight robbery?” asked a local resident.
A medical store owner near the hospital was blunt: “MLA Gulmarg had assured us this will be a planned project. That promise is now as fake as his speeches during elections.”
Locals believe the project is politically motivated, designed not for the public but for private gain. With no regard for planning norms, environment, or public money, the heart of PHC Kunzer has turned into a construction mess—raising serious questions about the role of officials and the silence of the administration.
What was a functional, newly macadamised lawn is now rubble—symbolising how development is being twisted
