Traffic Crackdown Intensifies in Kulgam; Vehicles Seized, Fines Imposed

Kulgam, March 27: In a major enforcement drive to curb rising traffic violations, Traffic Police Kulgam intensified its crackdown across the district, leading to the seizure of multiple vehicles, including a school bus, officials said.

During the drive, strict action was taken against violations such as overloading, absence of valid documents, illegal vehicle modifications, and riding without helmets. Authorities seized one motorcycle, two automobiles, and a school transport vehicle. Additionally, 25 challans were issued, and a total fine of ₹10,500 was imposed on violators.

 

Officials further stated that separate enforcement actions were carried out targeting other traffic offences as part of the ongoing campaign to improve road discipline.

 

Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Qazigund–Kulgam, Mohd Aslam Chaudhary, under the supervision of SO Abdul Rashid and his team, emphasized that a strict stance will continue against underage driving and serious violations. He urged parents to ensure that minors are not allowed to operate vehicles.

 

Reiterating its commitment to road safety, the police warned that such drives will be intensified in the coming days to ensure compliance and protect public lives.
