4.4 Kg Charas Seized in Kokernag, Drug Peddler Held in Major Crackdown

Anantnag, April 29:
In a major success against drug trafficking, Anantnag Police intensified its anti-narcotics drive by arresting a drug peddler and recovering a significant quantity of contraband in Kokernag area.
Acting on routine naka checking at Dodhkol Adhal Vailoo, a police team from Police Station Kokernag intercepted a suspicious individual, identified as Gulzar Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Adhal. The accused, who was travelling from Gadol towards Adhal, attempted to flee on spotting the police, raising suspicion.
During the search, police recovered approximately 4.4 kilograms of charas-like substance concealed in a polythene bag in his possession. He was immediately taken into custody.
Police have registered a case under FIR No. 36/2026 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act at Police Station Kokernag, and further investigation is underway to trace the source and network behind the contraband.
Reaffirming its zero-tolerance stance against drug menace, Anantnag Police urged the public to cooperate and share any information related to drug trafficking to help build a drug-free society.
