Handwara Hosts Veer Nari Samman Ceremony; Families of Martyrs Honoured
Handwara, June 1: In a tribute to the families of fallen heroes, the Khaki Association organised a grand Veer Nari Samman Ceremony at Environment Hall, Handwara, honouring Veer Naris and families of security personnel who laid down their lives in the service of the nation.
The event, led by Khaki Association President Annu Pasricha, witnessed participation from nearly 250 people, including senior civil and police officials, social activists, youth leaders, members of civil society, media representatives and local residents.
During the ceremony, 35 families of martyred Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel and six families of Army and CAPF martyrs were felicitated in recognition of their sacrifice, courage and contribution to the nation.
Among those present were Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Shrikant Balasaheb Suse, SSP Kupwara Sahil Sarangal, ADC Handwara Javed Naseem Masoodi, Tehsildar Handwara Zeeshan Khan, DFO Langate Aizaz Panjwari, President Bar Association Handwara Adv. Nadeem Majeed Dar, social worker Dr. Aabida War, and several other dignitaries from different sectors.
Addressing the gathering, Annu Pasricha said that the association remains committed to supporting the families of martyrs and ensuring that their sacrifices are remembered with honour and respect. She described Veer Naris as symbols of resilience, courage and patriotism who continue to inspire future generations.
The Khaki Association highlighted its continued efforts to strengthen ties between security forces and the people of Jammu and Kashmir through social, patriotic and humanitarian initiatives. The organisation has regularly conducted programmes aimed at honouring martyrs, supporting their families, promoting national unity and encouraging youth participation in nation-building activities.
As part of the event, mementos and tokens of appreciation were presented to the Veer Naris and martyr families. The ceremony concluded with a pledge to continue supporting the families of martyrs and uphold the values of sacrifice, service, patriotism and national unity.
The programme served as an emotional reminder of the enduring legacy of the nation’s martyrs and the strength displayed by the families they left behind.
