Tourist Vehicle Skids Off Road in Tangmarg After Suspected Brake Failure, Several Injured

Tangmarg, June 17: A tourist vehicle met with an accident near Public Park Tangmarg on Wednesday morning after a suspected brake failure, officials said.

According to officials, a tourist tempo bearing registration number JK01AV3629 was travelling from Gulmarg towards Srinagar when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle due to brake malfunction. The vehicle subsequently skidded off the road near Public Park Tangmarg and collided with a roadside barrier.

Eyewitnesses said the barrier helped stop the vehicle, preventing what could have been a more serious accident.

Several passengers sustained minor injuries and were shifted to Sub-District Hospital Tangmarg for treatment. Hospital sources said all the injured are stable and out of danger.

Soon after the incident, police personnel and local residents rushed to the spot and carried out rescue operations. All passengers were safely evacuated from the vehicle.

Senior police officers also visited the accident site to assess the situation. Meanwhile, police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.

Authorities have urged drivers, particularly those operating on hilly routes, to ensure regular vehicle maintenance and adhere to road safety guidelines to prevent such incidents.
