Srinagar | January 17:

In a notable political development in Jammu and Kashmir, former PDP leader Umar Farooq (Junaid) on Friday formally joined the Apni Party in Srinagar, marking a significant boost to the party’s growing grassroots outreach.

Umar Farooq (Junaid), who previously contested Assembly and District Development Council (DDC) elections on the ticket of the People’s Democratic Party, was welcomed into the party fold by Apni Party Senior Vice President Ghulam Hassan Mir.

Known for his strong public connect and organisational work at the grassroots level, Umar Farooq said his decision to join the Apni Party was driven by the party’s “pragmatic, people-centric and development-oriented political vision.” He expressed full confidence in the leadership of Ghulam Hassan Mir and stated that Apni Party offers a credible platform to address real issues confronting the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Welcoming the new entrant, Ghulam Hassan Mir said that Umar Farooq’s induction would further strengthen the party at the grassroots level. “Apni Party continues to attract sincere and committed political workers who believe in transparent, accountable and inclusive governance,” Mir said, adding that the party remains focused on development, stability and public welfare.

Several senior Apni Party leaders, including Nazir Ahmad Sheikh, Abdul Kareem Dar, Wani Abdul Ahad and Engineer Abdul Ahad Wani, were present during the joining ceremony.

Party leaders expressed confidence that Umar Farooq (Junaid)’s entry would reinforce the organisational structure of the Apni Party and expand its outreach across the region, particularly at the local and community level.
